Purpose:
This task order will provide SWEG the ability to train Special Forces, Civil Affairs and Military Information Support soldiers in support of Special Forces Regimental operational requirements.  Contracted personnel shall provide Educational support to adult learner Special Operations student soldiers attending the United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and provide instruction based on principles of performance and sports psychology to enhance the cognitive skills required for ARSOF Soldiers to physically and mentally excel while operating under high stress in ambiguous, high-risk, chaotic, and physically demanding environments. Instruction focusses on learning and performance which includes: mental skills foundations, energy management, attention control, effective thinking, memory enhancement, goal setting, planning and prioritization, leveraging learning styles, peer learning, study strategies, effective reading, and sleep for performance.
  • Instructs ARSOF Soldiers in learning and performance theories and application; including the education and acquisition portion of performance education to include: the principles of Building Confidence, Goal Setting, Attention Control, Energy Management, Integrating Imagery, Team Building, cognitive control, and stress management.
  • Utilize simulation technology and biofeedback in accordance with established guidelines to demonstrate performance enhancement principles and to personalize the acquisition and application of performance psychology techniques.
  • Advise and provide consultation to outside organizations, as well as to conduct internal research and practice in order to implement best practices and translate of learning and performance theory into practical application utilizing psychological research methods, perform statistical analysis and produce oral and/or written reports.
  • Coach Soldiers and Leaders on the acquisition of performance psychology techniques and their application to individual military tasks and unit operations to include field operations.
  • Provide tailored educational programs and workshops to help military and DA civilians living and working in demanding environments achieve success and accomplish personal, professional goals.
  • Develop and/or maintain professional development programs to ensure research and practice teams within the Special Operations Cognitive Enhancement for Performance (SOCEP) program are current with the latest literature, findings, and/or best practices relating to all aspects of performance enhancement, academic proficiency, and Army-related knowledge.
  • Provide academic performance consulting to Soldiers/students e.g., textbook marking, test preparation, and note taking.
  • Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office software to include PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills; able to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment; must possess effective interpersonal skills.
  • Work will periodically require operating temporarily in a field environment observing ARSOF Soldiers; may be exposed to a variety of weather conditions and extreme temperatures ranging from the upper 120s degrees Fahrenheit in the daytime to the lower 20s degrees Fahrenheit at night.
  • May be required to conduct movement by land, sea or air via Military/Commercial fixed or rotary wing aircraft, waterborne craft, or ground transport in support of unit training in assigned core supporting tasks. 
 
Education and Certifications:
  • Master’s degree required in sport psychology or sub-disciplines of intervention/performance enhancement, health/exercise psychology, and/or social psychology.
  • Degree must be from a school recognized by professional accrediting organization, e.g., Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), British Association of Sport and Exercise Science (BASES), American Board of Sport Psychology, Association for Applied Sports Psychology (AASP), or American Psychological Association (APA).
 
Knowledge and Experience:
  • Must have at least one (1) years’ experience as an instructor or graduate assistant in an academic setting (military or civilian) with groups of up to 100 individuals.
  • Must physically be able to walk on patrols over uneven, rocky, sandy, and/or wooded terrain crossing water obstacles up to waist high; in all weather conditions; during night, day, and low visibility periods; in areas where normal office equipment, restroom, and wash facilities are not available.
  • Must be physically capable of carrying a small pack of up to 15 pounds during field environment while observing cadre and Soldiers.
  • Must be willing and able to be transported in government provided field ground vehicles and/or military aviation.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
