Purpose: Provide subject matter expertise in hazardous material handling, movement and storage in support of the Federal Bureaus of Investigation’s (FBI) Hazardous Devices School (HDS).

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide subject matter expertise in hazardous material handling, to include radiological material.
  • Comply with all safe work practices, policies, and processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times to guarantee health and safety.
  • Responsible for the correct packaging of material/waste and off-specification of commercial products.
  • Label drums appropriately and assure driver of an expedient pick-up.
  • Appropriately load/pack materials and wastes properly and segregate them for compatibility on the transport vehicle.
  • Ensure overall quality control of waste materials to be shipped.
  • Apply customer specific disposal restrictions/special packaging requirements.
  • Carry out assigned waste minimization and environmental sampling activities.
  • Create routine reports to support environmental reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for stock and maintain supplies to support HW requirements.
  • Accomplish and maintain required training.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5-15 years of experience as a material handler conducting similar work with a focus on planning and operational logistics to minimize safety risks.
  • Must possess a current hazardous materials handling license.
