Safety Data Analyst

Salary:                     $37.50/hr plus up to $4.57 in Health and Welfare.

Purpose: The Government requires two contracted fulltime equivalent data collection specialists to support the Navy Safety Program Manager in the collection, coordination, distillation, display, and presentation of mishap reporting data.
 
Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
 
  • Assist with investigating and reporting of all received mishap reports (averaging about 1,100 annually.)
  • Research each mishap report for accuracy and completeness coordinating efforts with originators to obtain missing information to ensure 100% accuracy and completeness.
  • Acquire injury/illness diagnosis information from Individual Training Record Management System (ITRMS) or other Navy digital systems and determine mishap classification.
  • Draft Navy Safety Command Risk Management Information (RMI) mishap reports. Forward RMI draft reports to Navy representatives for review and release. Track report submission status for acceptance or rejection. Research and correct deficiencies and when approved submit reports in RMI.
  • Draft SOCOM mishap Defense Ready (DR) reports forwarding DR draft reports to Navy representatives for review and release. When approve for release, submit reports in DR.
  • Develop quarterly and annual roll-up report of NSWCEN and component commands mishaps and equipment failure. Provide five-year comparison history with current year.
  • Provide additional reports when requested.
  • Synthesize mishap report data in various display formats (graphs, numerical values, charts, etc.) for presentation to senior leadership.



 
Job Specific Knowledge/Requirements:

 
  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience in the private or public sector performing data collection and synthesis for supervisory and decision maker review.
  • A minimum of an associate’s or bachelor’s degree (courses in statistics and/or data presentation and a basic knowledge of sports injury and illness terminology are desirable).
  • Experience with PC operations and use of common/standard business software programs and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, and Power Point).
  • Possess a high level of attention to detail and accuracy in collecting, maintaining, and assimilating varied data sets for presentation to senior leadership.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to diplomatically interact with NSWCEN staff and subordinate commands.
  • Perform duties independently with minimal oversight.
  • Exhibit professional conduct and comply with applicable Federal, DoD, United States Special Operations Command regulations, instructions, directives., and policies.
  • Possess a valid state driver’s license and a secret security clearance or the ability to qualify for such clearance upon employment.
